Katedra w Ripon mało znana średniowieczna katedra w Anglii; jest to wspaniały historyczny budynek pełen fascynujących zabytków. Katedra w Ripon ma historię sięgającą prawie czternastu wieków. Obecny kościół został założony przez św. Wilfrida i poświęcony w 672 roku; od tego czasu był wielokrotnie przebudowywany.

The Ripon Cathedral is a little known medieval cathedral in England; it is a magnificent historical building full of fascinating monuments. The Ripon cathedral has a history dating back almost fourteen centuries. The present church was founded by Saint Wilfrid and dedicated in 672;

Najpiękniejszym fragmentem w katedrze była dla mnie, cześć oddzielającą prezbiterium od reszty kościoła, pięknie rzeźbiona i cudownie ozdobiona - rood screen/choir screen.

Ta forma podziału kościoła jest charakterystyczna dla kościołów średniowiecznych.

Ta część dzieląca kościół pochodzi z XV wieku i podawane są dwie daty: 1494 rok a nawet 1408 rok.

W niszach w dolnej części, po obu stronach wejścia do chóru, znajduje się osiem pomalowanych rzeźb przedstawiących królów.

Nad łukiem drzwi znajdują się kolejne nisze, mniejsze i w każdej znajduje się postać cudownego anioła grającego, śpiewającego...

Zauważyłam anioła w jasnej tunice mającego dwie pary skrzydeł: pierwsze są w normalnym miejscu dla anioła, a drugie owijają się dokoła postaci. Ponadto ten anioł ma jeszcze gwiazdę na głowie, czego nie mają inne anioły . Anioł ten nie gra na żadnym instrumencie, nie śpiewa, nie używa kadzidła (jak inne anioły) - na pewno anioł do specjalnych zadań.
