Haroggate było wówczas bardzo modnym i eleganckim zdrojowym miastem.
Agatha zapewne polubiła ten pobyt, gdyż uczystniczyła w życiu towarzyskim organizowanym przez hotel: tańczyła, brała udział w balach oraz innych rozrywkach, nie wzbudzając podejrzeń wśród gości.
Po 10 dniach jeden z muzyków orkiestry hotelowej rozpoznała pisarkę i poinformowal policję. Oczywiście mąż Agaty, pułkownik Christie, przyjechał i odebrał żonę.
Dwa lata później, Agata i jej mąż rozwiedli się a pułkownik Christie ożenił się z Teresą Neele. Agata również później wyszła za mąż i pisała powieści, aż do swojej śmierci w 1976 roku.
